This summer, Aamila is taking a short road trip to downtown Tulsa. She has been told that the area was once called “Black Wall Street” for the variety of businesses and services that were provided to Blacks by Blacks.

About the Author

Tara Henderson is a public elementary school principal in Tulsa, OK. She has been in public education for nearly three decades. This is her first children’s book. This story is a work of fiction; however, the Tulsa Race Massacre is a historical event that has impacted the lives of Blacks in Tulsa for many generations. Henderson currently resides in Oklahoma with her husband, Patrick, and has two children, Patrick II & Kiesha.
