Wandering Wings covers a twenty-five year period of studying butterfly populations at Rice Creek Field Station in Oswego, New York. The author describes all species observed during that period. He relates personal reflections of each species in addition to their habits, flight period, preferred habitat and relative abundance through those years. His flashbacks from childhood to the present as he discusses certain species add a more personal touch and understanding of these insects. He illustrates techniques in how to approach, photograph and observe with a goal of providing readers the enjoyment and appreciation of nature through butterflies.
