Dining with Elephants is as much a memoir as it is a cookbook. This book is a collection of stories – humorous, heartwarming, and often humbling – of 27 years of living with the most majestic creatures. A story of resilience, survival, and connection between humans and animals in the wilds of Africa. These gentle giants have been my inspiration. They gave me the strength to face adversity and the courage to overcome the toughest beginnings. They have given me the passion to fight for a better future for Thula Thula, for its animals, its land, and its people.
Together, with my dedicated team, we built something greater than a game reserve. We built a family. And we did it the way the elephants do. With unity, empathy, and loyalty, for the greater good. Elephant social behaviour has taught me that life should be all about caring, giving, helping, and sharing. And that, too, is what creating the best food is all about.
