Maybe it’s because he’s the youngest, is forced to wear gloves because of the warts on his hands, and is mother’s favorite, or maybe it’s just that he’s different. Whatever the reason, to avoid his siblings and his father’s rages, he seizes on any excuse to leave the house. He visits the neighbor, Marcela, who seems to have a cure for every ailment, or roams the countryside with Sombra, his dog.
